Following President Trump’s executive order regarding immigration, the country and the courts issued a resounding rebuke. Thanks to the actions of hard working organizations and lawyers, many of those detained have been released. However, the work continues and more executive actions on immigration are imminent.
Hack the Ban is a hackathon that brings together multidisciplinary creatives (technologists, designers, journalists, etc) and organizations working at the forefront of immigration issues with vulnerable communities. The intention is to help these organizations serve their communities effectively by providing digital media tools and solutions.
Our goals are straightforward:
- Immigration clinic – legal assistance to those who need help in DC’s community today
- Design with purpose
- Create concrete solutions that can be used RIGHT. NOW.
- Foster a technical support community for the resistance
- Reinforce to all members of the community that they belong here
There is an enormous amount of work to do to share information with those targeted by anti-immigrant policies and enforcement. Join us!
